Court Jester's Crew

Babylon Raus

BY Dan CohenPublished Feb 1, 2003

Germany's Court Jester's Crew lays down their tracks with a solid groove on Babylon Raus, their third album. Driving bass powers every track on the album as the band plays jazz, dancehall, ska and reggae over top, and the band is at its best when combining dancehall reggae with sweet vocal harmonies. "We Let The Good Times Roll" is a perfect example of this and is worth the price of admission alone. Sometimes the faux-Jamaican accents become a bit too much and there are some forgettable tracks on the records, but the band is tight and when they're on and their combination of danceable rhythms with a reggae groove is on par with any modern ska/reggae outfit.
