'T2 Trainspotting' Soundtrack Details Leak Online

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 10, 2017

Danny Boyle's original Trainspotting arrived in 1996, complete with a soundtrack that celebrated the glory days of Britpop. Now, with sequel T2 Trainspotting on the way, details for the upcoming film's OST have leaked online.

An Amazon listing briefly appeared, declaring the soundtrack's release date as January 27 — the same date the film hits UK theatres — and detailed a 15-track album featuring an array of notable names. Some cover art, which you can see above, also appeared online.

UPDATE (1/13, 12 p.m. EST): The tracklisting has now been officially confirmed, and North American fans can get a hold of the album on March 17.

The artist roster strikes a balance between homages to the original movie (Iggy Pop, Underworld), classic acts (Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Blondie, Queen, the Clash) and a new wave of UK musicians like Young Fathers and Fat White Family.

And although the listing has since disappeared from Amazon, Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh seems to have confirmed the tracklist via Twitter.

He responded to a tweet praising the soundtrack's inclusion of Young Fathers, saying: "We're very lucky to have them involved."
