Published Jul 22, 2014In some rough news for Corrosion of Conformity fans, drummer Reed Mullin has been forced to pull out of the band's upcoming North American tour following a serious shoulder injury.
The band, currently in the midst of a stretch of Down Under dates, revealed in a press release that Mullin won't be cracking the skins for the rest of that trip, as well as their fall trek around North America, due to a torn rotator cuff. This includes a September 1 appearance at Vancouver's Rickshaw Theatre. Apparently the drummer has been ailing for some time and will be sidelined henceforth until he's healed up good and proper.
The group explained in a statement: "We are sorry to announce that Reed Mullin will not be onboard for this tour. He's been playing through pain, awaiting a strategic time to repair a full tear of his rotator cuff. That's a seriously bum shoulder. So he's going to get that repaired and rehabbed."
The band's trip Down Under continues, however, with former Kylesa skinsman Eric Hernandez behind the kit. C.O.C. explained that the drummer was led their way by Torche's Rick Smith, whom they had also approached as a temporary replacement.
As previously reported, the North American tour will have them concentrating on material from the newly released IX, as well as tracks from 1994's Deliverance and their 1985 classic, Animosity. They'll be joined on the trip by BL'AST!, Brant Bjork & the Low Desert Punk Band and Lord Dying.
