Cornelius Treats 'Mellow Waves' to Lavish Vinyl Release, Unveils North American Tour

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Nov 14, 2017

While Cornelius released his first studio album in over a decade this past summer, the Japanese musical innovator is now finally treating Mellow Waves to a physical release here in North America. On top of that, he'll be supporting the release with a tour.

Mellow Waves will at long last arrive on vinyl, as well as CD and cassette, on January 26 via Rostrum Records. Pre-orders have already been launched, and the limited-edition vinyl is pretty damn fancy, with it coming on white and black splatter vinyl, with a pop-up gatefold, a "Phenakistoscope animation" insert and a "accordion-style" liner note insert.

You can see the limited-edition version up above. A standard black vinyl edition is also available.

Pre-orders can be placed now over here. A bundle is also available that includes the three Mellow Waves 7-inches previously released in Japan.

As for that tour, it will begin in March. Unfortunately, though, the trek will not make its way to Canada, with Cornelius sticking entirely to the U.S. besides one Mexico City date. Nevertheless, you can see his schedule below and maybe plan a trip over the border.

Tour dates:

03/03 Mexico City, MX - NRMAL Festival
03/07 Washington, DC - 9:30 Club
03/09 New York, NY - Irving Plaza
03/10 Pittsburgh, PA - The Warhol at Carnegie Lecture Hall
03/13 Seattle, WA - The Showbox
03/14 Portland, OR - Revolution Hall
03/16 San Francisco, CA - The Independent
03/20 Los Angeles, CA - Fonda Theater
