Published Jun 12, 2012Having signed to the esteemed American roots company New West Records back in 2009, Canadian country hero Corb Lund is preparing to release another album through the label. His sixth studio effort is called Cabin Fever, and it will be out on August 14.
The songs were inspired by a recent breakup and the death of uncle and were largely penned in a remote cabin outside of Edmonton. This resulted in lyrics about subjects like drinking, preparing for the apocalypse and even vintage BMW motorcycles.
Lund recorded these tracks with his band the Hurtin' Albertans in a session that a press release notes was "loose and live, with almost no overdubs." The collection spans everything "from rockabilly to Western swing, cowboy balladry to country-rock. And, of course, the occasional yodel."
Get a taste of this by listening to the twangy "Gettin' Down on the Mountain" at the bottom of the page.
