Converge Offering Up Vinyl Repress of 'Caring and Killing'

Though they just issued the jaw-dropping All We Love We Leave Behind last fall, long-running metal/hardcore trailblazers Converge have announced they'll next be offering up a vinyl repress of their old Caring and Killing collection. A street date has yet been set in stone, but it should arrive later in 2013 through Hydra Head Records.

The Massachusetts-based band announced the repress via Facebook, and noted that it will feature "revamped packaging" from Hydra Head owner Aaron Turner and Converge vocalist Jacob Bannon. They also posted some artwork (see above), which is presumably part of the package and possibly the cover.

Initially released in the mid-'90s, the compilation gathered up the group's earliest recordings from 1991 to 1994 and preserved them on compact disc, first by European label Lost & Found, and later by Hydra Head. Caring and Killing includes tracks from their Halo in a Haystack LP, demo cuts, compilation tracks and some exclusive tunes.

This latest edition bounces Caring and Killing onto 12-inch wax for the first time. According to the band, the vinyl edition was remastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music and is "sonically superior to any previous versions."

The upcoming LP is being released as part of the Hydra Health rehabilitation program, which the label announced last fall amidst some financial problems to "ensure that a lot of the great music we've been entrusted with disseminating continues to be available for any and all that want to hear it for years to come."
