Conduct

'Fear and Desire' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 20, 2015

Winnipeg four-piece Conduct are set to unleash their full-length debut Fear and Desire next week, but you can give it an early listen on Exclaim.ca.

Comprised of former Departures members, Conduct blend elements of industrial, post-punk and good old-fashioned rock'n'roll into their own unique sound. Thematically, the set of songs "expounds on the inhumane nature of existence, anxiety, and the impulses behind inaction."

Unafraid to express their anger at society's complacency, the band channel raw, in-your-face energy into tracks like opener "A Figure" and "Public Issue," while closing tracks "Onibaba" and "Contract Killer" slide into a well of darkness and desperation.

The record was recorded and mixed over four days with the legendary Steve Albini at Electrical Audio, with Bob Weston chipping in on mastering duties.

Fear and Desire is out on January 27 via Public Tone, but you don't have to wait until then to hear it in its entirety. Give it a stream below.
