We've heard a handful of tracks from Nobody Smiling, Common's forthcoming album-length collaboration with producer No I.D., and now the album's finally been given a release date.
Nobody Smiling will be released on July 22, and marks the follow-up to his 2011 LP The Dreamer / The Believer. Whereas his last release arrived via Warner Bros. Records, this one sees Common working with Def Jamalongside No I.D.'s Artium imprint.
Common shared the following statement about the project:
I'm honoured to team up with No I.D. and be a part of the Artium and Def Jam family. Creating this album and signing to Def Jam feels like a new beginning for me. I feel like a new artist because I created this album with the purpose to give back to my city and to the culture of hip-hop. Def Jam is part of the foundation of hip hop and being able to work with No I.D. was returning to my foundation now with new energy and new hunger.
