Common may not have given us any more details on when we can expect to hear his impending, first-ever mixtape, but the Chi-town spitter is still about to give up some free goods via prolific DJ J. Period's upcoming Rage Is Back. Common's contribution is called "The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.)."

Lyrically, the song is a follow-up to Common's classic love-letter to hip-hop, "I Used to Love H.E.R.," off 1994's Resurrection. He talks about the evolution of the genre, noting that styles are only getting better ("Revolutionize and rising above the game again"), and gives shout outs to No I.D., the Roots and more. Musically, it features the sexy spy-rock slink of composer Lalo Schifrin's "Danube Incident" atop a J. Period beat. You can sample it down below courtesy of Billboard.

Rage Is Back drops February 12, while Common's as-yet-undetailed mixtape is expected to arrive sometime in April.
