When New Jersey producer Com Truise (a.k.a. Seth Haley) announced his 2011 album Galactic Melt, his press release at the time described it as chronicling the life of a "synthetic/robotic astronaut" who journeyed to a newly discovered galaxy called 'Wave 1.'" That legend continues with his new EP, the appropriately titled Wave 1, which is due out February 18 through Ghostly International.
There is apparently a narrative structure to the sequencing of these seven songs. Much like Galactic Melt, the EP is said to provide the score for an imagined film. According to an announcement, it "builds on Haley's signature production style, one that's rooted in classic sci-fi sounds and analogue textures but nevertheless manages to sound utterly contemporary."
Joel Ford of Ford & Lopatin sings on the the song "Declination." Hear that tune at the bottom of this page.
Com Truise will hit the road in North America to support the record in 2014. The tour runs for more than a month during February and March, and includes Canadian dates in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. See the schedule below, along with the EP tracklist.
The album is available to pre-order here. There will be 2,000 vinyl copies in all, with 300 of those pressed on limited-edition dark purple wax. It's also available digitally.
