Last week, Colin Meloy promoted the Decemberists' upcoming album by hitting the streets of Brooklyn to busk. Now, a street-side acoustic performance of a new number called "Lake Song" has emerged.
The audio quality is somewhat questionable, given that this was recorded outside, but we still get a good idea of what this folksy, lyrical song sounds like. It features Meloy's usual thesaurus-friendly poetry, and he declares that he is "17 and terminally fey."

The Decembrists' new album is called What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. In the video, Meloy confirms that it will be out on January 20.
