Coldplay Deliver 'Mylo Xyloto' Comic Book

Coldplay's latest album Mylo Xyloto and its subsequent tour packaged the band's stadium-approved soft rock with some incandescent visual accompaniment and costumes. The English group's affinity for neon colour palettes will now be repped even further in a new sci-fi comic book loosely based on the LP.

A press release explains that a six-part mini-series called Mylo Xyloto will be launched at this week's San Diego Comic-Con International. Director Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda) co-wrote the series, which according to the filmmmaker is the "latest expression of a music-driven feature animated film that the band and I started developing several years ago."

The story centres on the character Mylo Xyloto, which we presume is the pageboy-sporting android on the cover up above. The titular comic's protagonist is described as a "young Silencer on the front lines of a war against sound and color in the world of Silencia." In what could be the run's big twist, "Mylo discovers that the enemy he's been trained to hate his whole life might not be the enemy after all."

The first issue of the series will be for sale at Comic-Con, with the finale expected to hit stands February 2013.
