Josh Eppard will now undergo a heart procedure

Coheed and Cambria have been forced to axe their remaining 2019 live dates after drummer Josh Eppard fainted during a show in Florida over the weekend.

In a statement shared through Facebook, the band revealed that Eppard "had a fainting spell" early into their set Saturday night (October 26) in Orlando. "After a visit from the paramedics, he insisted on coming back out to finish the show — which was extremely courageous — but even with the amount of awe we felt, everyone was very concerned," they wrote.

The statement reveals that "upon his return home, Josh's doctors advised him to undergo a procedure called a 'cardiac ablation' in the coming weeks. This procedure will close an 'extra pathway' to Josh's heart, which has been causing an irregular heartbeat for some time, and is believed to be responsible for the occurrence in FL."

Saturday's Orlando performance was Coheed and Cambria's last tour date ahead of three shows in Detroit, Milwaukee and Minneapolis in November. Those dates — November 19, 20 and 21, respectively — and a planned tour of Australia have yet to be rescheduled.

"We apologize from the bottom of our hearts to fans in the Midwest and those in Australia, as well as the organizers of these shows," the band wrote. "We feel strongly that an abundance of caution is the best move for Josh and for the band at this time. Let there be no confusion, we will be back bigger and stronger in 2020, and are already planning big announcements on the horizon."

Eppard is chronicling his road to recovery on his personal social media channels, including a pre-op appointment he attended today. Find that alongside the band's complete statement below.

Coheed and Cambria released their Vaxis – Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures album last year.
