Coeur de Pirate Goes 'Blonde' on Sophomore LP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 13, 2011

Quebec-based chanteuse Coeur de Pirate familiarized herself to English-speaking listeners with her recent project Armistice, a collaboration with Bedouin Soundclash singer Jay Malinowski. This means that the singer should have a bigger audience than ever when she releases her sophomore album, Blonde, due out November 8 via Grosse Boite.

The album was co-produced by Martin along with Montreal super-producer Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, the Dears). According to a press release, the songs are "perfectly crafted pop gems."

Lead single "Adieu" is due out September 19, and it features "rolling waves of bass and drums, supported by her pixie-dusted vocals," which are "kissed with a hint of menace." You can check out a minute-long teaser video below and stream the whole thing from her official website.

Coeur de Pirate has a small selection of live shows coming up to promote the album. More Canadian dates will reportedly follow in 2012.

Tour dates:

11/8 Montreal, QC - Théâtre Rialto
11/9 Quebec, QC - Théâtre Petit Champlain
11/11 Toronto, ON - Mod Club
