Coeur de pirate

"Carry On" (video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 6, 2015

Back in 2013, Coeur de pirate (real name Beatrice Martin) showed her appreciation for other artists' work, releasing an album of covers for the soundtrack to Trauma. But the Francophone songstress is back with a new single of her own called "Carry On."

The track marks the first single from her upcoming third LP, and was recorded in Stockholm with Björn Yttling (Peter, Björn and John). Martin's piano is swathed in a blanket of synths, strings and samples, showing off the singer's electro-pop side.

It's a step away from the '60s-inspired Francophone feel of Blonde, with Yettling "boldly expanding her horizons and modernizing her approach." The new track has also been paired with some visuals that see Martin performing a dance routine with Sam Colbey (choreographed by Nico Archambault and Wynn Holmes) amidst a burning abandoned building.
