Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie Teams Up with Fawns of Love for New 7-Inch

BY Allie GregoryPublished Jul 2, 2020

California synthpop husband and wife duo Fawns of Love have just released a new 7-inch record featuring a contribution by Cocteau Twins founding member Robin Guthrie. The record is out tomorrow (July 3) on limited pink vinyl via Kingfisher Bluez.

Guthrie's contribution comes in the form of a completely new take on the band's 2019 song "Someday." Also included in the release is a new exclusive track titled "Never Sing for Joy."

Of the serendipitous collaboration, Fawns' Joseph Andreotti explained further in the following statement:

Jenny and I have been huge Robin Guthrie and Cocteau Twins fans for over 20 years and have always been inspired by their songs throughout our own music endeavors. When coming in contact with Robin our discussions began with a possible remix of "Someday." However, as time progressed, and Robin began working on the track, it quickly turned into an entire new version of the song. Robin ended up playing guitar, bass, keys, and drums on the track which created an entire new mood to the song. We are both ecstatic by the end result.

Kingfisher will release 250 hand-numbered copies of the record via Bandcamp

Fawns of Love's latest release was 2019's Permanent.
