CocoRosie Get Antony Hegarty, Dave Sitek for New Single on Touch and Go

Oddball pop experimentalists CocoRosie last left us with their expansive, Exclaim!-approved Sub Pop debut Grey Oceans in 2010, but the outfit will return to the equally iconic Touch and Go imprint for an upcoming seven-inch single.

According to the label, the band will deliver "We Are on Fire" / "Tearz for Animals" on wax and digitally June 5. This is the first CocoRosie effort to bear the Touch and Go logo since 2008's "God Has a Voice, She Speaks Through Me" single, and was mostly recorded this past winter in Los Angeles by TV on the Radio's David Sitek.

Apparently the sessions inspired the eclectic duo, as they released a statement saying "Working with Dave is a creative exorcism -- musical kinship without boundary."

The producer wasn't the only big-name outsider to affect the sessions, as Antony & the Johnsons leader Antony Hegarty added vocals to B-side "Tearz for Animals" at CocoRosie's home studio in Brooklyn.

The single's cover art (see above) is also collaborative, this time between vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Bianca Casady and artist Jesse Hazelip. According to the press release, the art was done as part of a prison exchange project, with "drawings from the inside, between friends, as a means to hope."
