Coalesce 012:2

Coalesce 012:2
How do you reissue the perfect album? By not doing a thing to it (well, it’s been remastered). With no extra bonus tracks added, this reissue of Coalesce’s mighty swansong is as succinctly awesome as ever (all 24 minutes of it). Vocalist Sean Ingram still never shuts up (I was hoping a bit of time away from this CD had changed that), filling up every millisecond of every song with his monotonous grunting, but who cares when the tunes are this good? Originally released in 1999, no one has come close to matching the level of toe-tapping catchiness, extreme technicality and beautiful heaviness this disc contains. Tunes like "What Happens on the Road Always Comes Home” and "Sometimes Selling Out is Waking Up” still sound incredible. I like the old layout better but who cares? Buy this one even if you have the original — this CD is so good you’ll need a backup. (Relapse)
