Published Jan 30, 2009The weeks of rumours are finally over: Coachella 2009 has announced the festival's full line-up. And sorry, there is no Ziggy Stardust, no Replacements and, of course, no Smiths. Instead, artists such as Paul McCartney, Morrissey, the Killers, My Bloody Valentine, the Cure and Leonard Cohen will be the big names headlining the festival, which goes down from April 17 to 19 in Indio, CA.
Other notable bands on the ticket include Franz Ferdinand, Girl Talk, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes, Hercules and Love Affair, Liars, Peter Bjorn and John, Antony & the Johnsons, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Sebastien Tellier, Glass Candy, No Age, Lykke Li and, perhaps one of the most surprising inclusions, Superchunk.
Also, besides Leonard Cohen, there are few notable Canadian artists hitting the festival this year, such as Fucked Up, Billy Talent, Crystal Castles, MSTRKRFT, Junior Boys and Exclaim!'s current cover star K'naan.
Tickets for Coachella are on sale now and can be purchased through the festival's website or Ticketmaster. A single day pass will run you $99 U.S. (about $122 CDN) and three-day passes cost $269 U.S. (about $328 CDN). And, since we are living in this current age of economic downslide, you can put tickets on layaway.
