Published Mar 14, 2010Charged with the task of opening a full evening of metal sponsored by one of the genre's longest-standing and influential record labels, Metal Blade, Windsor, ON's Assassinate the Following proved that youthful vigour mixed with some serious chug riffs can be an impressive cocktail. However, while the music should say it all, no band have ever been accused of offering too much aesthetic stimulus. The quartet were sonically bulky but they could do with a touch more visual presentation. Aside from the awesome executioner's axe bass guitar, there was little to engage a swelling crowd. Still, they set a solid pace.
