Published Aug 30, 2010Since 1980, the CMJ Music Marathon has been highlighting some of the most forward-thinking and exciting musical acts. The 2010 edition of the festival is taking place from October 19 to 23, and based on the initial list of artists performing, it looks to be another top-notch year.
So far, the list of confirmed artists includes DeVotchKa, Surfer Blood, Two Door Cinema Club, School of Seven Bells, Bad Books (featuring Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra), Four Tet, the Drums, Ghostface Killah, Greg Dulli, Helmet, Lissie, Foreign Exchange, Katzenjammer, Kristen Schall and friends, Dean and Britta, Bayside, Senses Fail, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Salem, the Blow, Small Black, Big Freedia, Dominique Young Unique, Angus and Julia Stone, Frankie and the Heartstrings, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Langhorne Slim.
On its own, the opportunity to see this diverse batch of artists is worth a trip to New York City. Still, the festival organizers assure us that "this is just a sampling; we'll announce hundreds more in the coming weeks!"
