Full Fathom Five: Video/Audio Field Recordings 2007-2008

BY Keith CarmanPublished Aug 22, 2008

As true Clutch fans know, the only way to get the real deal is to catch a live show. It’s in the heat of the moment that the band unfurl their penchant for expanding their amalgam of hardcore, blues, rock and metal into borderline jams, creating a fresh experience every night. It’s almost as if Clutch’s eight studio albums are mere sketches to provide a backdrop for the unknown territory they explore nightly. DVD Full Fathom Live (as well as a CD version) finally captures those elements crucial to the Clutch encounter. A compilation of performances from five shows documented while on tour in support of then-latest release From Beale Street To Oblivion, Full Fathom Live boasts 20 DVD tracks and the CD 15 tunes (with some specific to each) spanning the band’s 17-year history. Smooth, consistent and boasting crisp production, multiple angles and original renditions of classic Clutch tunes, Full Fathom Live is extraordinary. Unfortunately there are no extras.
