If 2014 feels like a lifetime ago, it kind of is. So you'd be forgiven thinking it's been a while since we had a proper new album from Cloud Nothings. That's about to change, though, as Dylan Baldi and co. are returning with Life Without Sound on January 27 via Carpark.
The album was recorded with producer John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney, Death Cab for Cutie) in El Paso, TX, earlier this year, and the band are already showing it off with the teaser track "Modern Act."
Speaking about Cloud Nothings' latest, Baldi had this to say in a statement:
Generally, it seems like my work has been about finding my place in the world. But there was a point in which I realized that you can be missing something important in your life, a part you didn't realize you were missing until it's there — hence the title. This record is like my version of new age music. It's supposed to be inspiring.
Adding to that, a press release states: "The result is Baldi's most polished and considered work to date, an album that speaks to his evolving gift with melody while also betraying the sort of perspective that time provides."
Along with the new album announcement, Cloud Nothings also have announced a rather massive tour, which indeed makes it to Canada for shows in Toronto and Montreal. You can see all the upcoming stops below, where you'll also find the record's tracklisting and "Modern Act."
