Published Nov 02, 2010The past couple of years have produced more lo-fi pop acts than we can count, but Cleveland-based teenager Dylan Baldi (who records as Cloud Nothings) has managed to rise above the pack with his catchy tunes and prolific output. With an EP and a handful of singles under his belt (plus a compilation), he's now getting ready to release an official full-length, due out January 25 via Carpark.
The self-titled LP was recorded at a warehouse studio in Baltimore, MD's Copycat Building, with producer Chester Gwazda (Dan Deacon, Future Islands). This marks a major step up from his early home-recorded efforts. According to a press release, the new album "shines through with a crispness and boldness that Dylan has always envisioned. The songs now sound as they do live: full of energy, precision and catchy bits." Although Cloud Nothings are now a full live band, all of the instruments on the album were recorded by Baldi alone.
Before the album drops, Cloud Nothings will head out on a European tour, including dates with Les Savy Fav and Veronica Falls. Scroll past the tracklist to see the dates.
