Closet Monster

Killed The Radio Star

BY Rob FerrazPublished Mar 1, 2003

The notoriety of novelty acts like Sum 41 and sub-par hacks Not By Choice may have cast a brief spotlight on the suburban wasteland of Ajax, Ontario, but an outfit like Closet Monster shows that there's something happening among the malls and tract housing. There's a whole lot of political angst happening in this set of songs. They've grown up listening to the likes of Propgandhi and it shows more in the content than the sound although you could say they're like the aforementioned Winnipeggers minus the NOFX influence. This is more mid-tempo and melodic and the songs are still very catchy. It's suitable listening for when you're getting ready to don your black mask and indulge in some small scale state-smashing.
