The Clientele Announce 'Best Of' Collection, Reissue Series

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 5, 2015

Though UK indie pop unit the Clientele may not have issued a proper LP since 2009's Bonfires on the Heath, the band are getting ready to highlight the hits with a new career-observing collection and a reissue series.

UK imprint Pointy Records will issue Alone & Unreal: The Best of the Clientele on September 4. The collection contains a bevy of tracks pulled from the band's back catalogue and also features new track. In addition, CD and LP editions of the set will come with a bonus download of an unreleased recording session called The Sound of Young Basingstoke, which was tracked by an early incarnation of the band.

In addition to the track-culling best-of collection, Pointy is going to be delivering reissues of 2009's Bonfires on the Heath, 2007's God Save the Clientele, 2005's Strange Geometry, 2003's Violet Hour, and 2001's Suburban Light.

It should be noted that while Pointy is reviving the old LPs, Merge had already dusted off Suburban Light in 2014 with an expanded reissue that included a bonus disc of covers, rehearsal recordings, B-sides and more.

To celebrate the releases, the Clientele will be playing a one-off show at London's Islington Town Hall on October 23.
