The Class

Hates You

BY Shawn MerrillPublished May 1, 2003

Although the Class may still think it’s the UK, circa ’82, this group of young lads clad in spikes, boots, braces, denim and leather actually hail from suburban Ontario. Their brash style of street punk isn’t innovative, but even in its simplicity it still stands out amongst many similar bands in this genre. Catchy, bar chanting anthems like, "You Gotta’ Lot to Learn,” "Leeches,” "Society’s Bastards,” "Out in Force,” and "Friday Nite” are spread amidst the lesser material on the album. Hates You would have definitely been more effective as a six-song EP than a full-length album that was loosely tossed together. Not great for a debut, but not entirely bad either.
