"Ghost in a Kiss" (ft. Samuel T. Herring) (video)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 7, 2016

Future Islands singer Samuel T. Herring has been moonlighting from his full-time job this summer. Beyond dropping a verse on the new BADBADNOTGOOD LP, he's also shown up on a new track from Clams Casino's forthcoming 32 Levels. Judging by the video for the record's "Ghost in a Kiss," he's also picked up an office job.

The video is scored by a masterful, hypnagogic swell of syrupy-thick snaps and morose piano. Above this, Herring traffics in low-sung hooks and tranq dart-bender moans. Visually, we find the singer making his way to an office supplies building to check inventory, but he seems haunted in his thoughts.

Throughout, we also see visions of a young couple, a confusing bath tub scene, dinnertime between Herring and his pooch, and the singer's tortured, sleepless nights.

What it all means is unclear, but you can peep the Grant Singer-directed video below.

Clams Casino's 32 Levels, which also features guest spots from Vince Staples and Kelela, lands July 15 through Columbia.
