City of Ships

Minor World is the highly anticipated sophomore album from Richmond, VA's City of Ships. Anyone who ate up their debut LP, Look What God Did to Us, will be wholly impressed by this second course. Minor World is a dark album, brooding in a murky corner rather than coming out to frolic in the sunshine. Dissonant chords and muddy shoegaze sections ("Darkness at Night") typify the album. And even when there's a chance for something brighter ("Tantric Engineer"), the threesome intentionally steer their ship back towards stormy seas. It's not an "easy" listen, but one well worth your time and patience.
