City Of Caterpillar City Of Caterpillar

Upon first listen, I was quick to pass this off as just another post-hardcore punk disaster, but after further inspection, I find myself a little more forgiving. It's safe to say that City of Caterpillar won't be fronting a punk rock revolution anytime soon, but I'm one to give credit where credit is due. The band certainly knows their way around their instruments and are well-versed in the ways of their chosen genre, especially making headway when they stop screaming long enough to hammer out a little melody. The record sounds pristine (with studio twiddling that actually pays off) and the band plays with the necessary fury that makes this style worth its while, but it's only one or two steps above your standard angst-ridden fare.
