Dallas Green retooled his sound in a number of different ways late last year for If I Should Go Before You, moving from acoustic ballads towards a grittier mix of rock, soul and blues. While his set wasn't big on musical surprises, there was no shortage of skill on display from Green and his backing band, who played material new and old. Drawing heavily from his latest disc, Green's voice was unwavering in truly testing his range with "Northern Blues" and "Wasted Love," asking the crowd if they had their dancing shoes on before performing the latter.

Green did break out the acoustic guitar for "Sleeping Sickness," getting his band to play behind him in the chorus sections for a bolder, rougher take on the fan favourite. Before launching into it, he gave special mention to the Tragically Hip's Gord Downie (who features on the track), and mentioned another figure fighting cancer in Ottawa radio personality "Stuntman" Stu Schwartz before playing through "Fragile Bird."
