Lead by former Olivia Tremor Control front-man Will Hart, Circulatory System is essentially the next OTC full-length record in everything but name. With pretty much the whole OTC band partaking in the record, with the exception of Bill Doss, who recently released a solo record under the moniker of the Sunshine Fix, the self-titled album is one of the nicest surprises this fall. Led by Hart's strong melodic songwriting, group vocal harmonies and obtuse instrumentation, the 22-song effort reminds me a lot of OTC's debut record, Dusk At Cubist Castle, right down to the somewhat similar album artwork. Standout tracks? Definitely the album opener "Yesterday World" and the very Smile-influenced "Waves of Bark and Light."
