Chromeo

"Ezra's Interlude" (ft. Ezra Koenig)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 17, 2014

Electro-funk figures Chromeo are taking it slow and low on the next White Women preview, sharing the mike with Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig on the suitably titled "Ezra's Interlude."

The spacious piano intro lets guest star Koenig wax on the fate of a relationship, which is apparently going nowhere ("I don't want to call you up or wait for a sign/I just can't pretend I'm gonna make you mine"). The song then ushers itself into a fuller, though just as gentle arrangement of slippery synth sensuality and palm-muted funk licks, with Koenig ratcheting up his vocals into a crestfallen falsetto.

You can hear the quickie heartbreaker down below.

As previously reported, White Women drops May 12 via Last Gang in Canada, and through Big Beat/Atlantic in the U.S.
