Chris Velan has new music on the way. The Montreal-based musician has announced that his eighth studio album, Songs About Songs, will arrive on May 19. The ten-track project is Velan's first full-length release since 2018's Amateur Hour

Today, he previews the album with the breezy lead single "Sticky Notes," a heart-warming tale written about Velan and his partner's habitual sticky note communications during the pandemic.

"The song is a reminder to remember; A scribbled prompt on a square piece of neon pink paper to treat yourself and those important to you with care; a nudge to not hold back in sharing what's real in your heart. Nothing is too small or big. No time is bad," he said.

That sweet narrative paired with driving guitar licks, playful background vocals and an addictive melody indicative of Velan's sound come together on "Sticky Notes," which sets the tone for the "upbeat and heart-forward" album.
