Published Mar 14, 2011Combining bits of each artist's style, this new jam from Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor, Twin Shadow and Solange Knowles proves to be an epic, ethereal jam. The three musicians teamed up to write charity tune "Kenya" for the Coca-Cola Foundation's Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN), a non-profit that "brings together business, local government, NGOs and committed individuals to tackle the problem of access to water and sanitation in Africa."
The video is a montage of recording studio clips and images from Kenyan landscapes, from hippos swimming in rivers to friendly villagers transporting water. The song starts off with the spectral openness of a Grizzly Bear track, with airy guitars shimmering atop Solange's powerful R&B pipes. By the time the song hits the halfway mark, the singer's voice is swept up in a sea of '80s synths and panpipes.
