While Nicholas Krgovich has been focusing on promoting his pop opus On Sunset as of late, he's dusting off his holiday alias Chris Mastheim for a new seasonal EP. Chris Mast Style is now available to stream or download for free.
The EP consists of covers of six well-known holiday tunes, with production handled by Krgovich himself. A description points to sonic touchstones like the Human League, Pet Shop Boys, Fantasy, Barry White, the Magnetic Fields and F.R. David.
The result doesn't sound too different from Krgovich's usual material, with sparkling synth arrangements that draw on '80s pop and '90s R&B. Here, his grooving style is particularly dreamy and new age-tinged.
