Published Aug 06, 2013We already knew that rapper Donald Glover would be cutting down his involvement with sitcom Community in order to focus on his output as Childish Gambino. Now, it looks as if he's planning to merge his acting and musical talents with a new TV series, tentatively titled Atlanta.
Deadline reports that Glover is slated to write, executive produce and star in the new series. It has been picked up by the U.S. television channel FX for a run of half-hour episodes.
The show is apparently a comedy set in Atlanta's music scene, which is widely known for being one of North America's finest, particularly when it comes to hip-hop. FX is reportedly being flexible in order to work around the actor/musician's touring schedule (something that was doubtless more difficult to organize with an ensemble show like Community).
It's not clear if this is at all connected with the NBC pilot that Glover was attached to last year.
Childish Gambino has been busy lately; he recently unveiled a mysterious short film called Clapping for the Wrong Reasons. Watch that below.
