Childish Gambino Reportedly Developing TV Comedy Based on His Life

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 13, 2012

Rapper Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) is no stranger to the small screen, as he co-stars in Community as Troy Barnes and previously was a writer for 30 Rock. Soon, Glover may be investing a whole lot more of his time in television, since a show based on his life is reportedly in the works.

While details about the project are still scarce, the Glover-starring show is close to securing a deal for a pilot for NBC, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Matt Hubbard, an executive producer and writer on 30 Rock, is apparently involved. Other executive producers include Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan.

The title of the show has not yet been confirmed. Since it's based on Glover's life (and assuming that it gets the green light from NBC), the actor's rap career will likely be touched on.

Community will return to NBC on October 19.
