ChessClub "Half/Dead" (video)
In "Half/Dead," the new single from Toronto-by-way-of St. John's hip-hop unit ChessClub (formerly Large LIVE n' Direct), a hook sadly summarizes "by the time we make our name we'll be half-dead and insecure." Considering this, you may want to catch the rising act now while they've still got some life in them.

The video for the song, scored by a beat of satin-soft synth touches and clicking percussive hits, finds the group spitting lines from forests and cemeteries. They're not necessarily the focus of the clip, though, as it also shows a man with a broken arm getting ready for the day with a quick breakfast and a jog through his hometown.

There's a surprise twist that hints that not all is well in the scenario, but rather than spoil things, you can check out the narrative for yourself down below.

"Half/Dead" is expected to appear on an as-yet-undetailed full-length in November.
