Published Jun 01, 2011It's the middle of the week and surely you have been working hard these past few days. You, friend, deserve a night in with a good movie and maybe even an alcoholic beverage and microwavable snack. But before you head out to the movie store or going fishing online, be sure to check out the Exclaim! Recently Reviewed section to see what we have to say about the latest DVDs to hit the shelves.
First, we have Passion Play (pictured), which showcases an unlikely romance between a winged carnival freak, played by Megan Fox, and a has-been jazz musician, played by Mickey Rourke, who everyone else in the movie seems to want killed. If it's something a little bit more true to life that you're looking for, though, Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst star in the love-turned-thriller movie, All Good Things, which gives viewers a look into the famous unsolved missed persons case of Katie Marks.
There's also the teen sci-fi flick I Am Number Four, which has Alex Pettyfer playing a good alien with special powers who's being hunted down by a race of bad aliens. And as if that wasn't bad enough, he also has to deal with being a teenager in your classic all-American high school.
But if jocks and cheerleaders aren't your thing, you could check out The Rite to see the trials and tribulations of life in an Italian exorcism school. And while we're talking horror, be sure to check out the write up on Forget Me Not to find out just what a movie has to do to make our patient reviewer actually turn it off before the halfway point.
For your family-friendly flick this week, we have a cute animated take on a Shakespearean classic with Gnomeo and Juliet. And if you're in the mood for a classic, there's Charlie Chaplin's 1940 talkie The Great Dictator.
