We kick things off this week with Iron Man 2 starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Mickey Rourke. There is a lot of plot to deal with in the sequel as Iron Man deals with his new found celebrity status and difficulties of maintaining his physical strength and public persona.
Russell Crowe brings his trademark brooding-hero style to the Ridley Scott-directed Robin Hood, which is also out on DVD this week. Crowe tries to erase the memory of Kevin Costner with this new historical superhero epic. Check it out for an updated look at this old vigilante tale.
With a career-topping performance by Michael Douglas, clever dialogue and quirky secondary characters, Solitary Man is a movie worth checking out this week. There is no shortage of talent on screen as Mary-Louise Parker, Susan Sarandon, Danny DeVito and Jessie Eisenberg (The Social Network) also flex their acting chops while Douglas tries to deal with a once successful life that is crumbling around him. Speaking of flexing muscles, how about Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time? The star plays a young street urchin who, after becoming close to the King, fights for the kingdom with a magical time-travelling dagger.
In the television department, Glee: The Complete First Season is finally out for all the Gleeks to sing and dance to, while The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season is here to fulfill all of your teenage vampire drama needs.
