If you're a follower of the Vancouver arts scene, this one's for you. On March 18, W2 Storyeum will host Drop In/Drop Out, a video arts expo that will showcase installations by local artists. Making the event even sweeter is the fact that a number of Vancouver bands have signed on to perform.
Organized by the nonprofit Drop Out Video Arts, this is the Vancouver edition of BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer). According to a press release, "All artists and community members have been invited to show work, provided that they bring their own projection equipment."
The installations will be soundtracked by a number of key players in the Vancouver music community. The artists currently slated to perform are Animal Bodies, Channels 3x4, Magneticring, Holzkopf and My Friend Wallis's Crystal Dorval. After hours, DJ Jason Lev will keep the party going.
If you're looking for an introduction to Vancouver's arts scene, both in music and visual art, you're not likely to find a better primer than this. And the show is only $5 or by donation until 11 p.m. and $7 after. Check out the Facebook event right here.
