CFCF and Jean-Michel Blais Join Forces on New EP

Last year, producer CFCF (born Michael Silver) and pianist Jean-Michel Blais joined forces for a Red Bull Music Academy collaboration. That team-up has beared more fruit, as the pair now have a collaborative EP on the way.

Silver and Blais will release a five-song EP called Cascades through Arts & Crafts on March 15 digitally and on April 14 on vinyl.

In addition to four original pieces, the release includes a reworking of John Cage's composition "In a Landscape."

In a statement, Silver said this about the collaboration:

Jean-Michel sent me a zip of some of his unreleased compositions, and this one stood out to me because it had a kind of baroque, sad, romantic quality to it, but it was slightly poppy despite its unusual chord structure. At first I suggested making it a trance song almost as a joke, but the concept took hold and it just made sense. I think the intensity of the super-saw synths shocked us, and hopefully the listener, out of a certain complacency about what constitutes an 'appropriate' approach to classical music.

Before Cascades arrives in full, you can stream the duo's new song "Hypocrite" below.

Cascades:

1. Hasselblad 1
2. Two Mirrors
3. Spirit
4. Hypocrite
5. In a Landscape (Rework)
