Cave In's Stephen Brodsky and Converge's Ben Koller Team Up as Mutoid Man

Adding to their already collectively huge canon, Cave In leader Stephen Brodsky and Converge drummer Ben Koller have announced they've started a new project called Mutoid Man.

The pair revealed the project with the launch of Twitter and Facebook accounts, which both point to a few in-progress drawings from artist Santos that will figure on their debut release. Official plans for the set have yet to be revealed, but Lambgoat reports that the duo recorded some new tunes last summer.

This isn't the first time the pair have played together, with Koller having sat behind the kit for Cave In between 2005 and 2006. Brodsky had also played in Converge back in the '90s and held down the bass duties on the act's classic When Forever Comes Crashing LP. Brodsky had also played with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou in Kid Kilowatt, while other members of Converge and Cave In get together every few years as doomsmiths Old Man Gloom.

Brodsky, meanwhile, has a new solo EP of psych-tinted tunes called Hit or Mystery coming out April 16 through Little Black Cloud Records. You can stream the effort's fittingly titled "Real Surreal Beauty" down below.
