The Catalyst Swallow Your Teeth

The Catalyst Swallow Your Teeth
Yet another band that prove Richmond, VA has some of extreme music's most fertile soil, the Catalyst tear multiple assholes with their noisy hardcore meets rock'n'roll blast on Swallow Your Teeth. Taking a lesson from the conflict-adoring Anal Cunt via tracks such as "Lars Ulrich's 1986 Funeral (It Should Have Been You)" and "Assholier Than Thou," there's a distinct element of hilarity to the otherwise overbearing approach of this grinding outfit. Pulling from some of Nirvana's more obscure moments but pairing them with aspects of old school hardcore and even the rumbling dirge of Death From Above 1979, Swallow Your Teeth rides the perfect line between snot-nosed, abrasive scenester hardcore and truly creative musicians just having a blast. If Converge had a sense of humour and a drinking problem, they'd probably sound something like the Catalyst. (The Perpetual Motion Machine)
