We've already heard Bon Iver's contribution to Zach Braff's film Wish I Was Here, and now we've got the soundtrack contribution from Coldplay in collaboration with Cat Power.
Titular cut "Wish I Was Here" is a quiet, contemplative piano ballad that subtly builds with cinematic textures. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin began working on the tune upon watching a rough cut of the film, but he hands over the lead vocals to Cat Power's Chan Marshall. We hear Martin harmonizing on a few lines, but this is mostly Marshall's show.
Hear it over at NPR.
Wish I Was Here will be in theatres on July 18. The soundtrack will arrive on August 5.
