Published Jun 09, 2014Get your boomboxes and walkmans dialled up for some new releases, because after a successful launch in 2013, a group of tape labels have announced plans to hold the second annual Cassette Store Day this fall.
Details are still developing, but organizers on both sides of the pond have agreed that the sophomore edition of the event will take place September 27. Though no special releases have been announced just yet, Kissability and Suplex Cassettes will help run Cassette Store Day in the UK and Europe, while prolific tape-slingers Burger Records will handle things in North America.
"Last year grew far bigger than we had expected so we are thrilled to have Burger involved to help us cover the US side," CSD founder Jen Long said in a statement.
Burger Records, meanwhile, had this to say:
Burger Records loves tapes! We've built our foundation on the forgotten format and have been preaching the merits of warm analogue cassette culture for years. We're honored to be ambassadors of Cassette Store Day 2014 in the good ol USA! We plan to bring some of our favorite labels to the table and invite everyone to the party and partake in the fun phenomena of releasing top shelf music on cassette tapes in pop culture today!
As the details are still be ironed out, labels that want to be part of the event and stores looking to sell special releases as part of Cassette Store Day can get in touch with organizers over here.
As previously reported, the inaugural Cassette Store Day had labels prepping special analogue tape editions of albums from the likes of Fucked Up, At the Drive-In, HAIM, Deerhunter, Animal Collective, JJ Doom, Xiu Xiu, Guided By Voices, Mum, Suicidal Tendencies and more.
