When Cass McCombs announced his impending Big Wheel and Others double-LP, we noted that recently deceased singer/actress Karen Black guested on a song called "Brighter!" That track has now emerged online.
McCombs posted it on his When website, writing that it was "dedicated to the memory of Karen Black." Although the song comes from McCombs's album, his voice doesn't appear on it at all, since Black sings the entire thing. Her tuneful vibrato sounds beautiful on this tune, which is a graceful country number with some dark and synth-y undercurrents.
Big Wheel and Others is due on October 15 through Domino.
