Smoke and Mirrors

BY Stuart GreenPublished Jun 1, 2004

Purported to be the band's swan-song, this EP contains four of the trio's finest songs — and in their relatively short history they've written some doozies. A little more upbeat than the weighty material on their Survival Is For Cowards disc, S&M is no less incisive or rocking. Working with producer Ed Rose (Get Up Kids, Reggie and the Full Effect) yet again, they brilliantly capture the density and texture of their emo-angst sound like never before. If this is truly their last release, at least they will have gone out on a total high leaving us wanting more... so much more.
