Carnifex

The Diseased and the Poisoned

BY Dave SynyardPublished Jun 16, 2008

Not too long after the release of Dead In My Arms, San Diego’s Carnifex (meaning "executioner” in Old English) have boarded Victory Records’ ship and set sail with The Diseased and the Poisoned. Their second full-length album picks up where this death metal five-piece left off, delivering absolutely brutal pit-churning music with sinisterly fast drumming. Having worked with Zeuss on this album (Unearth and Shadows Fall), it comes as no surprise that their raw sound was kept intact and reinforced with an album that delivers consistent satisfaction throughout. If you want to spend 45 minutes listening to guttural howls, machinegun guitar work and a drummer whose eye-popping blast beats will leave you confounded, The Diseased and the Poisoned is your newest friend.
